Kevin "Rusty" Horsch
Kevin grew up swimming, hiking and camping in and around the desert of Tucson, Arizona, exploring lakes, water holes and even the occasional waterfall, jumping in whenever possible. Moving to the San Diego area in 2000, he quickly took advantage of the ocean by kayaking with his kids, snorkeling and a little bit of spearfishing. Kevin is a certified Lifeguard/Swim Instructor and enjoys teaching kids and adults how to swim at the Rancho YMCA. Wanting to mix business with pleasure he became an ACA Certified Kayaking Instructor through the American Canoe Association and teamed up with Family Kayak Adventures. He hopes to meet you out on the water for some kayaking fun and adventures.
An active kayaker, Marie Humphrey has been a trip planner and lead kayaker since 1995. As a Certified Kayaking Instructor through the American Canoe Association, Marie’s knowledge of the San Diego area is second to none. With a Wilderness First Responder (Advanced First Aid) certification through Wilderness Medical Associates, her abilities and training give her the drive to put safety and fun first for everyone.
At Family Kayak Adventure Center we focus all our attention on your individual needs and abilities and that’s why we offer private lessons. If you don’t know how to swim that’s okay. We can show you there’s no need for any apprehension because we will teach you the basics to be efficient and safe on the water. We understand that everyone is different and learns in different ways. Properly fitting life vests are always worn throughout each lesson, as are the right size paddles to fit your height as well as your hand size. Everyone of all ages and abilities can learn to kayak!
