Boy Scouts
We are excited to announce our programs offering Fun Paddles and Campouts for Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts.
We provide the kayaks, life vests, paddling equipment, and instructor/guide to teach scouts and leaders all about kayaking.
We offer 1-day fun paddles in San Diego or multi-day kayak camping adventures to places throughout Southern California and Baja.
Your troop can sign up for one or more of the following programs at special Scout rates.
Black Canyon Hot Springs and Hoover Dam
Prime Big Horn Sheep viewing during March and April
Join us for three days of paddling on the Colorado River where it flows through Black Canyon just below Hoover Dam. Viewing the huge dam from a tiny kayak is quite inspiring. This is a beautiful stretch of river with Hot Springs, Waterfalls and a Sauna Cave to enjoy. Big Horn Sheep, Bald Eagles and Ospreys also inhabit the area. This is a great paddle to learn to be self-sufficient in a kayak. Participants will be responsible for their own camping gear, food and water.
Boy Scout Kayak Adventures
Family Kayak Adventure Center is excited to announce our programs offering Fun Paddles and Campouts for Boy Scouts.
Scouts and leaders will participate in fun and informative kayaking sessions in a safe and comfortable environment. We hold our sessions in the protected waters of a lake or bay.
Your troop can sign up for one or more of the following programs at special Boy Scout rates:

Lake Morena: Weekend Kayak Camping Workshop

Here is a great opportunity to learn how to kayak in a beautiful remote setting. Lake Morena is located in the mountains an hour east of San Diego. We will drive over Friday evening and set up camp for two nights.
On Saturday we will start with on-land instruction and then head out on the water. Instruction will include balancing, entering and exiting the kayak, five different paddling strokes, turning and safety.
Weekend on the Lower Colorado River
Join us on this great flat water paddle on the Colorado River just above the Imperial Dam. We provide the transportation from San Diego to the river, then we launch our boats and paddle up river to our boat-in campsite.
We will spend our days exploring the many reed-lined channels and off-river lakes in the area.
We will spend our evenings around the warmth of the campfire sharing stories and tall tales.
