Family Kayak Adventure Center is a female-owned small business with over 10 years of experience teaching people of all ages and abilities how to be safe and secure in a kayak.

Whether going out for a 3-hour nature tour or a weekend kayak camping trip, you will learn the skills, knowledge and independence to enjoy and appreciate the outdoors.

Workshops are offered year-round on a schedule and location that works for you. We have a mobile fleet of kayaks that can be transported to a lake or bay of your choice. Special Girl Scout rates vary and are based on the number of participants, length of the workshop and topic. The basic rate for a three-hour fun paddle is $22 per person, a workshop $30 per person, and a weekend campout $79 per person.

Lake Morena: Weekend Kayak Camping Workshop

Call to schedule your group outing

Here is a great opportunity to learn how to kayak in a beautiful remote setting. Lake Morena is located in the mountains an hour east of San Diego. We will drive over Friday evening and set up camp for two nights.

On Saturday we will start with on-land instruction and then head out on the water. Instruction will include balancing, entering and exiting the kayak, five different paddling strokes, turning and safety.

We’ll take a lunch break and then go exploring the many coves and inlets to see how far we can travel in our quiet kayaks. This is the native habitat of many species of birds, fish and mammals. Let’s see how many species we can find.

After our session we will return to camp to share a pot luck dinner and tall tales around the campfire.

We will also have a Sunday morning kayak session

Group rates are $79 per person, plus campsite fees of $155 for the adult/family group site, $105 for the youth group site, and $49 for each individual site (8 persons per site) in the regular campground.  Costs include tandem kayaks, life vests, paddles, launch fees, and instruction with ACA Certified instructor/guide.

Participants are responsible for their own camping gear and food. A detailed itinerary and equipment list will be provided.

Weekend on the Lower Colorado River

Join us on this great flat water paddle on the Colorado River just above the Imperial Dam. We provide the transportation from San Diego to the river, then we launch our boats and paddle up river to our boat-in campsite.

We will spend our days exploring the many reed-lined channels and off-river lakes in the area.

We will spend our evenings around the warmth of the campfire sharing stories and tall tales.

This is a good beginner trip on flat water to learn to be self-sufficient in a kayak. The camping is primitive and each person is responsible to provide drinking water, food, and camping gear. A detailed equipment list will be provided.

$245 per adult, $125 per child sharing the same kayak. Cost includes round-trip transportation from San Diego, kayaks, paddling gear, camping fees, and full-time instructor/guides. Both single and double kayaks are available. $50 discount with your own kayak.
